December is a roller-coaster of festive celebrations, work events, Christmas parties and lots of delicious food. But the fun’s not over yet. With a very short window between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, you’ll want the last day of the year to be filled with high spirits.
If you’re wondering how to celebrate New Year’s Eve, why not welcome 2025 with a bang by throwing a party to remember. We’ve put together a step-by-step guide to ensure you end 2024 on a memorable note!
1. Send out e-invites
No matter how tight the deadline, you’ll want to send out invitations to your guests as soon as you can. This will avoid your guests making other plans, as well as make it easier to get an idea of how many people will be attending. The easiest way to send out an invitation is via Whatsapp, email or Facebook. Why not consider setting up a group event on Facebook and monitor your guests’ responses directly from there. You’ll want to ensure your invites include the following information:
- Date / Time
- Location
- Whether your guests need to bring anything i.e. a bottle of wine or party nibbles
- What’s the dress code and are +1’s welcome too?
- RSVP date
2. Pick a theme
You can pick any theme for a New Year’s Eve party; however, a bit of glitz and sparkle is sure to get the party started! Assuming you too couldn’t resist the sparkle and decided to opt for a metallic theme, we’ve made everything past this point suitable for both a metallic gold or silver theme with many options to choose from at each stage.
3. Hanging Party Decorations
Once you’ve decided on your colour scheme, you’ll want to pick out a few hanging decorations to match. Popular choices include bunting, tassel garlands and iridescent fringe curtains. Here are a few of our personal favourites that we think are perfect for a New Year’s Eve celebration!
Balloons
An oldie, but goodie. Balloons will add maximum effect with minimum effort – what’s not to love? Our gorgeous metallic star confetti balloons will do just that. They come in two colours, gold and silver so they’re perfect for that New Year’s Eve theme we discussed earlier. We’re a big fan of confetti balloons but if you’re unsure how to blow these up, read up on our Tips & Tricks.
4. Tableware
The true essentials to any party and one of the easiest ways to take the stress out of planning is to buy disposable tableware. We’re talking paper plates, napkins and even cups.
However, just because they’re disposable doesn’t mean they need to be boring, continue with the metallic theme and use our gold foiled cups paired with our gold star plates. Christmas might be over but we can still keep the sparkle going for one more party.
5. Party Nibbles & Drinks
The main point of a New Year’s Eve party is to enjoy celebrating the night with your close friends and family, so the last thing you want to be stressing about is the food. Make the most of the seasonal party food still in the supermarkets and buy in a range of different party nibbles or appetizers.
A few of our favourites include crisps, dips, sausage rolls, mini quiches or mini pizza’s, vegetable kebabs. The possibilities are endless with party food, anything that can easily be heated in the oven and served with little hassle is your simplest bet.
When it comes to ensuring you have enough drinks to satisfy your guests all night, the best way to do it is to delegate this area. Have your guests bring a bottle of their choice, this way you should have more than enough for everyone. Just make sure to pop this detail on the invitation so your guests have enough notice.
6. Fun & Games
New Year’s Eve parties can start several hours before the clock strikes midnight, so having a few games up your sleeve can be a good way to keep everyone entertained!
If there is ever a time to get the games out, it’s after a few drinks! Our Star Edition ‘Who Am I’ game is a winner. It’s perfect for all your family and friends and will ensure everyone has a good time. Pop the glasses on and try to guess who you are by asking questions – it will have everyone laughing!
Take your party to the next level and start the year off with a bang by making a confetti shower with this amazing Confetti Cannon Shooter! The perfect way to add a little sparkle to your next celebration – trust us this will impress all your guests, just maybe give them a heads up before you set it off, it’s definitely not subtle!
