OUR TOP TIPS TO HOSTING A VIRTUAL DINNER PARTY

In the very surreal world we live in right now, our social lives can seem pretty non-existent. However, just because we all need to practice a little social distancing, it doesn’t mean you can’t still catch up with your friends and stay connected to your social circle while in isolation.

Keep reading to find out our top tips on hosting a virtual lockdown party.

CONNECT

It wouldn't be a party without any guests? Make sure to set a time when everyone is free to connect via your video chat of choice.

There are plenty of platforms that allow you to connect to your friends via video call, our favourites include, Skype, Zoom, Facetime (supported by iPhones only) and Google Hangouts. All super easy to set up and will work on either your phone, laptop, tablets or smart TV.  For more advice on how to set up a video call, click on the images below.

READY, SET, COOK!

The great thing about a virtual dinner party is you only have to cook for yourself so none of the dreaded washing up afterward. With that in mind, it might be nice to do a full course meal with starters, desserts and maybe a few drinks to finish - after all, with all this social distancing you’ll have plenty to catch up on. SET THE TABLE

Swap out your table cloth to give your dining table an instant refresh. Follow that up with a few paper napkins and a sprinkling of table confetti for a pretty stylish setup – if you’re really going to town perhaps consider adding a few fairy lights or pick some flowers from the garden and pop them in a vase.

ADD SOME DECORATIONS

You can also create a stylish backdrop by using our gold foiled hip hip hooray bunting or our personalisable bunting to give your video call a fun background setting. It’ll feel more like the real thing while also giving your dining room a spruce.

DON'T FORGET THE GAMES!

Don’t forget the games, just because it’s virtual doesn’t mean you don’t get to have a bit of fun. Why not consider creating a trivia quiz for you & your guests to play while you’re on your video call, or for other digital activities we recommend downloading House Party app which has a range of different virtual games you can play built-in within the app, including a firm favourite ‘Heads Up’.
