We all know that decorating traditionally for Christmas is a sure way to make a house feel warm, cosy and festive. So if you’d like to create that traditional feel this year with your Christmas decorations, have a look at some of our tips so this theme still feels fresh and chic!
The Colours
For this theme, your main colours are quite clear – Red, Green with a touch of Gold. This colour combination screams Christmas. This means lots of foliage and some luxe materials like velvet to give your decorations that elegant finish. Bring in some natural pops of red too with red poinsettia flowers, and of course a wreath!
Dress your Mantlepiece
If you have a mantlepiece, this is a key area to spruce up with some Christmas decor. To make the room feel super cosy, it always helps to bring the outside in. If you’re feeling creative, you could make your own! You can’t get more traditional than foraging in your garden for your own foliage like holly.
Or if you’d prefer, you can always fake it with artificial garlands saving you time and still looking fabulous. We also have a card holly garland to add a splash of colour to you decor, it’s 5 metres so it’s the perfect length for stringing around stairways, doorframes or mantlepieces. You could also get creative and cut it to smaller lengths and layer it up in certain areas for a real statement.
And of course, no mantlepiece or fireplace would be complete without hanging some beautiful stockings! You can’t get much more traditional than hanging up some stockings. There are so many options that would suit this theme, you could also get your craft on and knit your own! There are loads of tutorials out there, and the homemade feel will add that sentimental element to your decorations.
