7 Ways to Throw an Eco-Friendly Baby Shower
You’ve been asked to throw an eco-friendly baby shower for a clean-living mummy-to-be but not sure where to start? While throwing an environmentally friendly party may require a little more thought and effort, it’s been known to end up costing less than a ‘traditional’ approach without any of the excess waste – what could be better than that?

Going eco doesn’t have to be complicated, with just a few simple adjustments it’s easy to throw a chic, but green baby shower without sacrificing any of the fun. Still, feeling overwhelmed? Well, what if we told you we have a brand new eco-conscious party collection with everything you need to bring your green, stylish baby shower to life? Keep reading to find out our top eco-friendly tips you should consider.

1. Host the baby shower at home

One of the easiest ways to keep your baby shower green is to host your party at home or at a friend’s house. This will not only cut out the cost of hiring a venue but it’ll make the occasion more personal to the mummy-to-be.

By having your baby shower at home, it’ll take out the middle man and make it much easier to put your own eco spin on the planning when it comes to the décor, food, and everything that comes with it. It’s these little efforts to reduce the unnecessary costs and excess waste that the mummy-to-be will appreciate and will make the shower a truly thoughtful experience.

2. Family Photo Coming Soon

As soon as you feel ready to tell the rest of your family, friends and the world that is social media. There are lots of fun, quirky ways you can share the good news. One of the most common ways to announce a pregnancy is to share a photo of either your bump or perhaps if it’s a little too early, just of the soon to be growing family.

Here are a few ways you can do this:

The Sonogram Photo – One of the most common ways to announce the news is with the sonogram photo itself, the first photo of your baby, your newest prized possession. Simply set up a camera in your home or research photographers in the local area if you’d prefer it to be more professional and snap away. Print off a few copies and send them to your friends and family before spreading the word on social media. This is a wonderful way to tell the world you’re expecting a baby.

The Mini Onesie – There are lots of websites available online where you can buy personalised baby-grows or little onesies for your new baby. Why not consider purchasing one with your own personalised message and take a photo with it to share the exciting news with the world. A few phrases frequently used are; ‘Guess who’, ‘Little one, coming soon’ or ‘Baby Jones due Oct 19’.

A Growing Family – Share the good news by posting a photo of your existing family, and a sonogram or other props to reveal the new arrival. We love this idea, not only is it a great way to reveal the little one but it creates a magical memory you can treasure forever. There is plenty of inspiration and other ways you can style a photo on Pinterest. To begin, you could either search for a good photographer specialising in maternity photos around your local area or you could consider setting up a mini photo shoot at home, simply throw in a few colourful balloons or spell out ‘Baby’ using our gold letter balloons to create a super cute setup.

3. Pregnancy & Gender Reveal Confetti Cannon

Not sure how to reveal your pregnancy in a creative way but know for certain you want to do a gender reveal? Then why not combine the two. Surprise your friends and family by revealing your pregnancy with our gender reveal cannons. Now, of course, you may have told people by the time you reach your 20-week scan which is when you’d usually find out the sex of the baby. However, if you’ve managed to hold out until then or perhaps your life is heavily documented online then this could be the perfect way to announce the pregnancy and the gender to your social family?

Our Gender Reveal Balloon allows the excitement to build and find out whether your bundle of joy is a boy or girl. As you burst the balloon, pink or blue confetti will cascade to the ground creating that truly memorable moment – Remember to take lots of photos so the moment will last forever!

Or perhaps you could use one of our gender reveal cannons to tell the world. You can create wonderful pictures to document this magical moment similar to the announcement photo below, a memorable moment for friends, family and the parents to be!

4. Sibling Announcement

If you’re growing your existing family and welcoming a sibling into the world, then why not get them involved to announce the good news. They’ll love being the centre of attention and the one to announce the new arrival of their baby brother or sister.

You can announce this with balloons spelling out ‘Big Sister’ or ‘Big Brother’ either in the background or perhaps ask them to hold the balloons while you take a photo. Why not spell out a message using our Gold Message Board. This is a lovely photo to share on social media and definitely one to frame to remember forever.

5. Cute Pet Announcements

This is a definite favourite for us! A great idea if you’re looking for inspiration to share the news with your partner. If you have a cat or a dog, why not get a little creative and have them reveal the exciting news. Tie a note around their collar that says ‘I’m getting a sibling!’ or perhaps write a similar message on a chalkboard or letter board. Does it seriously get any cuter than this?!

6. Telling the Grandparents

Most likely, the second person you’ll want to share the news with other than your partner will be your parents or in-laws. There are plenty of little presents you can personalise online to let them know they’re about to be grandparents. This is definitely a moment you’ll want to capture, so get your camera at the ready.

7. Decorate your home

Perhaps you’d like to announce the news to all your closest friends and family members at the same time? Then why not invite them round for a casual afternoon tea or a lunch (be careful to not raise suspicion that your about to announce news) and decorate your home so when they arrive, they can’t help but put two and two together.

Our Hello World Bunting or ‘Oh Baby!’ could look gorgeous hung across the back wall for when they walk into the room.
